Mortician License in Utah
Utah does not offer a mortician license but it does offer a funeral director/embalmer license. To qualify for one you will need to earn your associate’s degree in mortuary science from an accredited school and then pass both the national and state exam about the laws and regulations pertaining to the industry. You must also do an apprenticeship where you complete at least 50 embalmings.
You will need to participate in 20 hours of continuing education every two years to keep your funeral director/embalmer license in Utah.
The application process here is handled through the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.
