Mortician License in Texas

The state of Texas does not provide a mortician license but it does offer a funeral director/embalmer license through the Texas Funeral Service Commission. Before you can apply for this license you will need to earn your high school diploma and graduate from mortuary school. After graduation you must pass the national exam and the state law exam and do an apprenticeship.

To maintain your licensure in Texas you will need to finish 16 credit hours of continuing education classes every two years.
