Mortician in Pennsylvania
It is not possible to obtain a mortician license in Pennsylvania, but it is possible to get a funeral director license. Before you can apply for the license you must complete two years of college. During this time you must finish 60 credit hours of classes in courses specified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Funeral Directors.
After you have complete two years of college you must graduate from mortuary college and pass the national board and national board state examination. You will also be required to complete an apprenticeship in order to qualify for a license.
To maintain your license in Pennsylvania you must complete six credit hours of continuing education every two years. Distance learning courses do not fulfill this requirement.
