Mortician License in North Carolina

In North Carolina, you cannot obtain a mortician license. However, the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service does grant a funeral director and embalmer funeral service license.

If you want to apply for this license you must earn your high school diploma and either complete 32 credit hours of classes at a mortuary science college or graduate from a mortuary science college. The school you attend must be board approved. You will also be required to do an apprenticeship before you can obtain your license.

To continue working as a licensed professional in this state you will need to complete eight credit hours of continuing education classes annually.
