Mortician License in Nebraska
It is not possible to get a mortician license in Nebraska, but you can get a funeral director and embalmer license in this state. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure manages the licensure process.
Before you can apply for a license you must complete 60 credit hours of classes at a college. Six of these credits must be in English classes, six in accounting, eight in chemistry, 12 in a biological science that relates to the human body and six in counseling or psychology classes. You will also need to graduate from mortuary school and do an apprenticeship.
To maintain your license in Nebraska you will need to participate in 16 hours of continuing education courses every two years.
